Frequently Asked Questions: Shopping

What are your hours?
We are open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Is the ReStore open to the public?
Yes! Anyone and everyone should shop and donate at Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland ReStore.

Where do proceeds from the sales go?
All of the proceeds go directly to Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland, to build homes with low-income families.

How are the items priced?
All items are priced at up to 80% off of the retail value. We do extensive research online to make sure the prices are low but fair. Remember, each purchase of these donated items helps create safe and stable housing for those who need it.

Do you negotiate marked prices?
Items at the ReStore are priced at up to 80% off of the retail value, so we do not typically negotiate prices.

Will items in the ReStore go on sale?
The ReStore has several annual sales with discounts ranging from 20% all the way up to 50% off! Sales typically occur during major holidays and will be posted to the website, monthly newsletter, and social media pages.

Does the Restore accept personal checks?
No. The ReStore gladly accepts cash, most major credit cards, and debit cards, but no checks.

Can I return an item I bought?
All sales are final. However, appliances and electronics only can be returned within 7 days, with the original receipt.

I found an item I like but it’s too big to take home today. Can I still buy it?
Only purchased items too large to fit into the customer’s vehicle (as determined by ReStore staff) will be placed in a ReStore holding area for customer pickup. Items will remain on hold for three (3) business days. At the end of business on the fourth day, unclaimed purchased items will be considered donated to ReStore and returned to the sales floor to be available for purchase. No refunds or exchanges will be given for purchased items left on hold for more than four days.

Can I place and item on hold or layaway?
Items will not be placed on hold for purchase.

Will you deliver something to my home?
We do not deliver items, but we can hold purchased items for three (3) business days.

Frequently Asked Questions: Volunteering

What should I wear to volunteer at the ReStore?
Wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and closed toe/heel shoes. Athletic shoes or boots are best – no ballet slippers, crocs, heels, clogs, sandals, etc.

I’ll be there all day, do you provide lunch?
The ReStore does not provide lunch, but there are several lunch options nearby. There is a break room with a refrigerator and a microwave if you would like to pack a lunch.

I would love to get my family more involved. Can I bring my kids along with me?
For safety reasons, our ReStore volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. Please call us at (423) 473-4610 if you have any other questions about bringing your children.

Can I bring a group along?
Certainly! We love to have groups volunteer at the ReStore. We can even schedule a special time for your group. Contact our Donor Engagement Coordinator to arrange a time and please note that all volunteer groups must be scheduled in advance.

How does my time help Habitat for Humanity?
Every task a volunteer does replaces the time of a paid staff. This means that you are keeping our overhead cost down and allowing us to direct even more of our proceeds to Habitat for Humanity.

I have a special skill that I think would be helpful to Habitat, but I don’t see a category anywhere under the Volunteer Opportunities. How can I help using that skill?
Contact our Donor Engagement Coordinator to find out where you can help. We benefit from all types of skills, from plumbing, drywall installation and finishing, flooring installation and electrical to artistic, and everything in between.
